Rainy days.

What better way to spend this gross rainy day than DIY projects and a face mask?

Since I don't have class today, I should be doing homework... but I really need to clean my couch and I've been wanting to paint a few things and redecorate so that wins! Haha.

But also, my skins seemed kind of dull lately maybe it's the weather, maybe it just that I haven't moisturized my face in a while. Either way I decided to do the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. I used to do it all the time when me and my sister were little, it's so fun to move your face and see it crackle. But also it's only like $2 and I works really good! My skin feels so good!

I hope y'all are having a good day! And if you're in this bad weather, be careful!

Insert Title Here

I should probably apologize for going off on such a tangent in my last post!
I didn't even get to what the post was about...
Decorating!

Hopefully I'll stay on track this time, and make it not nearly as long!

Where did I leave off? Oh yeah decorating my "new" (aka non existing apartment).

Well like I said I want to do Green and Lavender with black and white and mixed metals in the accessories. While I was browsing some websites, I found a few things.

This rug by Lulu & Georgia is to die for! Recently I have been all about some Greek Key and this ebony and ivory REVERSIBLE rug is perfect for my apartment.
I have been seeing Lulu & Georgia all over the place lately, but it's not hard to understand why

Another thing that I must have in my apartment is either malachite boxes or a pair of lamps!
Now that the color of the year is Emerald, I feel like we will be seeing malachite everywhere. Even more than we do now.
It kind of makes me excited because I've loved malachite boxes for years, but at the same time its like when you find out about something and nobody cares, then all of the sudden it becomes popular and nobody remembers that you loved it even when it was just a loser that no one wanted to acknowledge?
Oh well, four for you malachite, you go malachite.
sorry had to do it
Here's a few lamps that I'm obsessed with:

Both via google images.

Also, I have these 2 turquoiseish tealish lamps from my last apartment that I am thinking about doing a DIY experiment on them. If they turn out all good and malachite-y, I will definitely post the final results  on here. If you would like to do your own malachite DIY, check out The Aestate's tutorial here!

Speaking of DIY, I have also come into the possession of a less than cute (but rather large) canvas. My cousin is moving and has given me this picture that she had in her house, the problem is it is BRIGHT lime green and while thats cool and stuff, its not my thing. I'm thinking of doing it all black and white or something but ill definitely post that too.
Here's some inspo for that

I am obsessed with this dresser and I have been forever. It the Hayworth at Pier One. Now considering that I am decorating my dream apartment, I guess I could say that my bed, vanity, and 2 dressers could fit in the bed room. But that's unlikely. Since I am hoping this dresser is one of my graduation presents, I have no problem using this big thing in the living room to sit my tv on stuff, thats probably what I will have to do if I'm being realistic. I'v done this before but with roommates so it was kind of odd having to walk outside of your room to get clothes.
Check out this gorgeous thing.

These were just a few things I've been thinking about lately, I'm sure I'll come up with some more very soon.

I'd love to hear what y'all think!

Icy, Icy.

So all year I've waited and waited for winter time, so we could have the possibility of maybe one snow day... Well I think this is as close as we are gonna get, freezing rain. And of course it comes on a day that I could be doing productive things.
I should be moving out of my apartment since my roommate may or may not have gone crazy smashed my bathroom mirror and messed up my room while I was in class since I asked her if she could please give me the $75 she owes me for the water and power bills, ruining my senior year of college in Athens, Ga by forcing me to move. Oh well, that's neither her nor there.
Due to the weather I can't finish moving out til tomorrow or Sunday, so hopefully all of my things will still be fully intact.

Poor wittle baby bathroom.

One of the things I've been doing on the gross icy day is planning how I want my next apartment (sans any roommates) to look. Hopefully it will be in Charlotte!
Which is still a totally rational thing to do since I have yet to find either a job or an apartment there for after graduation... Right?
Whatever those are just little things.

Well I've been dreaming about this new mysterious apartment that I can decorate all on my own for quite some time, actually since I regretfully signed the lease with this crazy one. Anyway I had been thinking of doing the living room in lavender and kelly green along with black and white and maybe a mix of silver and gold. I know sounds like a lot but believe me, I'm not stupid or colorblind I can make it work. But since Emerald (can it be officially capitalized, since its the Color of the Year?) is all the rage, I might do it instead of kelly green (no title, no capitals)

So I have this couch, its dirty in this picture due to the previously mentioned roommate, her bf, and her dog (bitter? who me?). Its not the most beautiful thing, but I have actually grown fond of it over the last 4 years. As far as college apartment furniture goes, its pretty great. In general, I'm not obsessed with the modern and contemporary shapes, but sometimes they are cheaper and I actually think my love seat has fit in with all the different decorating styles I have done over the years. Also, its cream so its a great neutral to use and until this year, it never really got that dirty.
I'm hoping I can get it recovered before I move into this possibly imaginary apartment, but I'm not sure.

P.S. My mom made those square pillows, and they were totally GORGEOUS, until "someone" squished and sat on them until they were totally beat up! My mom felt so disrespected.

I also have this chair, I'm not in love with it but it is more comfortable than it looks. I bought it last year when another roommate (call her K) I had, refused to buy any furniture for the living room since I didn't pick out kitchen colors before we moved in. (I swear thats true! She was the one who said she would do living room furniture, I was allowed to do the kitchen, and our other roommate could do the patio, then she never bought anything and I brought that love seat and this chair and she got these ugly wicker things that we couldn't figure out if they were chairs or scultures - Haha Then she just left and never came back til move out day. I promise I never had roommate problems til last year and then they were both crazy!) If I can't get my loveseat recovered, I have to get this one done! It almost kills me everytime I look at it, because when I bought it there were 2 lavender gorgeous chairs for about $115 each and the only reason I didn't get it was because K said she hated purples, so I did the nice thing and got the black and tan chair, thinking she would contribute more to the room than she did. And knowing now how she just left for months, I should have just gotten them cause I haven't seen them since!

It's not great picture quality, I know and the styling in here sucks! But why would I waste my time and money decorating when my roomie is just going to destroy it? Thats why my bedroom was decorated to the max. Tears for me right? JK

My collection of green things hasn't really started yet, but it will soon! Lavender things on the other hand, I have plenty. My bedrooms usually alternate between lavender and purple so when I dig through all these things that are packed up Ill show you some examples.

Sorry this was so long! If you made it all the way through to the end then we can be best friends!
Haha, thanks peeps.
Well now that I'm at the end of the post, I'm not quite sure why I am showing you all this, I guess it's a mix of venting about my apartment, boredom, and dilierious ness from not being able to leave the house!
If you have any tips on my dream apartment, crazy roommates, moving out quickly, or microfiber couch cleaning, feel free to leave me a helpful comment!

They're here!!

Guys guys guys!

My supa-cool leather leggings (leathings if you will) are in!
Haha, is that lame to be this excited about LEATHINGS?
Yes. I know the answer is yes, but the heart wants what it wants and I am willing to give it just that.
Maybe I'm just delirious from this crazy week, oh wait it's only Tuesday...
So maybe I'm just crazy :p

Anyway sorry for this random rambling post so I'll let you go now.
Be on the look out for an outfit post in the near future ;)

K.Bye

Trays Trance

I have been so so busy... School just started back and I already feel behind!
Oh well maybe I'll catch up eventually! Ha

Anyway I haven't had that much time to think about different things to post on here since I've been working on my senior thesis. BUT the other day I was looking around my apartment (while I was shopping online of course) and noticed that I may have a burgeoning obsession... Trays!
I know, it's kind of weird but they really can change up a coffee table, a bar cart, a dresser, or a bed. Here are a few I love
I'm posting this from my phone so the order might be messed up but the first 3 are just trays from my own house and the last one is just some Pinterest inspiration

The silver one is the newest one I've gotten. It was a gift from my mom! It is usually on my bed, but it wasn't made so I styled a blanket around it. Crafty

The gold and white one is my little bar tray (it matches my ice container and the tongs) the shelf its on kind of looks empty in the picture but its because I'm in the process of moving out my stuff. I think out it from TJ Maxx.

The third one is also in my room, I usually keep it on my dresser or an accent chair. I absolutely love it. It was a great find from Hobby Lobby.

Lastly, here's a few different ideas if you're looking for a new look.

PS I've really been considering the idea of lucite trays or a lucite coffee table but who knows next week I could hate them.

I'd love to hear what you think.

Tortoise or the Hare?

I am currently lusting over the idea of Tortoise Shell Walls! After seeing this removable tortoise shell patterned wallpaper from House Beautiful (found on Pinterest, of course), I immediately had to start Googling tortoise shell walls!
The original inspiration.

Here are a few things I saw on my Google search that I MUST include in my future home:

Tortoise shell tiles.

Tortoise shell bricks with an iridescent finish.

I know it's a small picture, but this Kelly Wearstler wallpaper is absolutely to-die-for!

Or if you aren't into this much pattern, you could always just accessorize with actual (or faux) tortoise shells. Look here for another great inspiration from Kelly Wearstler!

If tortoise shells aren't for you, period.. then maybe you'll love this gorgeous rabbit wallpaper I saw a couple days ago (Pinterest hits again)!

What do you think about decorating with tortoise? Love it or hate it? Let me know!

How Bazaar...

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing really went wrong, but its just hasn't been a good day?
That's what today was like for me.
Nothing went wrong, like at all, but I'm just not feeling it today. I was actually pretty productive: I did all my homework for my classes today, I cleaned my room, and went to dinner with a friend. And that friend actually shared some great news: she invited me to come with her to NYC for Spring Break! I'm so excited for that, but still in my head I keep thinking today was eh or lets just go to sleep.
I don't know maybe I'm just tired, maybe my roommate problems are bothering me more than I thought (I'll probably post about those later).
Anyway, instead of going downtown (where most of Athens will be tonight) I went and got a diet green tea, carmel corn rice snacks and the January issue of Harper's Bazaar.
Harper's Bazaar always cheers me up (even if Taylor Swift is on the cover, she's annoying).
I'd fill you in on her love advice, but I think she's gone through a boyfriend or two since the interveiw (jk). And this issues been on newsstands for a while so you probably already know what is in it.
Or don't care...

Hope these winter blues or whatever it is are gone tomorrow, so I can start obsessing over my NYC trip!

Chic Peek

Ok guys, I have a confession to make.... I am officially addicted to LEATHER LEGGINGS....
Weird, right? Or maybe not so weird, thats what I can't figure out.
I know tons of people like them, love them, wear them all the time. And some people are more like they've already hit their peak and they are so over now. I am just a bit confused on why I have recently become obsessed lately...
It's not like I've been living in an underground hole (redundant and i like it) and I've just realized they exist, I've known about them and seen about them in person and just didn't care that much about them. Then all of the sudden BAM!! I'm sitting on my couch and I see some, I don't even remember if I saw someone on TV wearing them or online or maybe I just had a vision haha. I don't know I don't care, its like I just realized that I need them like really need them. I had a dream about them last night. But OF COURSE when I scour the mall to find a pair there are none to be seen, so I ordered some online. Hopefully they'll work out great and hopefully they'll come in before I'm over this crazed obsession.

Here are some other things I've been drooling over lately:

Malachite.

I really want to have a few malachite boxes for my new living room, but its a work in progress.
And its perfect for Pantone's Color of the Year: Emerald

Brown Nail Polish
I don't usually love browns and tans, but for some reason I do now.

Vaseline
This one may sound weird but I use it all the time. Especially since it is winter now, I don't really use chapstick so just a dab of this on my lips and I'm just fine.
Also I've recently re-started using it as an eyelash conditioner again, I stopped a few months ago just out of pure laziness. But it really does make your eyelashes look so much longer and fuller and it helps prevent any wrinkles that might just sprout up around the eyes!

Those are just a few things that have been occupying my thoughts lately, I'll definitely update when the leggings get in. Hopefully soon!

So, what have you been obsessed with lately?

On a scale from 1 to 10...

Ok so from yesterday to today my stress level has completely flip flopped!
Yesterday I was stress free and feelin' fine (with the exception of being sick, but that's something else all on its own) and today I am stressed to the max.
Today I had my last first day of school for my undergrad! Exciting? Yes. Stress free? Nope.
Not only did my professors start to pile on the homework today (come on what happened to easing back into school?), but this bedroom project is filled with problem after problem and this semester I'm doing my senior thesis and I have NO CLUE what my topic will be or who I want to be my faculty advisor. But anyway, I'll just go on stressing and neurotically filling up my planner and notebook with important things and you can just take a quick peek at how cute my planner is from Target (the striped one) and my adorable notebook from TJ Maxx (the black and gold Art Deco one).

I hope your day has been more relaxing ;)

Sick as a Dawg

My last first day of undergrad is on Tuesday and I am so so sick. Like it hurts to talk, it hurts to breathe, it hurts my throat not to do anything. So my plans on going to get school supplies and stuff have been postponed. So I thought I'd include a few things that are making me feel not as bad.

Like a bubble bath, reading Who What Wear Daily, macarons, pretending I'm in Paris, my wittle baby puppy dog, and I could really go on and on but none of its really helping me all that much. Haha

I hope you all are feeling better than I am!

XO,
Suz

New find for the bedroom project!

Don't get too excited it is just something small, but it's something nonetheless.

It's this cute little tray, it was totally el cheapo but it ties in all the colors I think we will be using (mint, pink, and gold)!

It's not the most amazing thing in the world but I think when styled right and when the rooms all together it'll be perfect-oh!

Get Back to Work

The holidays are over, school's about to start back (my LAST semester!!), and I'm slightly behind on about everything I have to do. So of course, I'm doing unproductive things like looking at Refinery29 and what do I find????

Their new lookbook is CLUELESS themed!!!
Are you totally buggin'?

Anyway, I am still working on the bedroom project (the color theme keeps changing), I am trying to perfect my class schedule, and find time to switch my whole wardrobe to Clueless inspired ensembles (just kidding, I think).

Have a Great Day!

xoxo

Happy 2013!!

Ok, so I may be a few days late to wishing you a fabulous New Year, but props to who ever said "better late than never."
With a new year come new resolutions, so I thought I'd share a few of mine with you. Some of them are pretty cliche, but here we go:
1. Save more money (especially since I plan on moving to Charlotte after graduation this is a MUST!)
2. Keep better track of my checkbook and save receipts. (Similar to #1)
3. Workout more and eat better. (Yeah yeah we all say that haha)
4. Go to church more! (This last year I feel like I haven't gone as much even when I was at home with my parents, so I really want to change that.)
5. Be nicer. (I'm not a mean person, I promise! But I think we all need to be a little nicer to people every now and then)
6. Post more often on here!
7. And finally, I saw this really awesome thing on Design Darling called 101 in 1001. It is a list of 101 things you want to accomplish in 1001 days (roughly 2.75 years). I really think this an awesome thing to do! Its like New Years resolutions that keep going, I definitely plan on doing this once I come up with 101 things I want to do and I'll keep track of it on here!

What are your New Year's resolutions? What do you think about the 101 in 1001 list?
I'd love to hear your opinions!

xoxo,
 Suz
